Dr JPS Bhatia completed his M.B.B.S. followed by M.D. in psychiatry and further took a training program in the field of addiction from a renowned hospital in New York and started his journey as the first-ever addiction psychiatrist in Amritsar, Punjab in 1992. Being a keen learner and an extraordinary observer, Dr JPS Bhatia climbed the stairs of success and recognition with his veracious outlook on the field of mental health.

As his expertise grew over the three decades, so did his fondness for research and knowledge. Dr JPS Bhatia attended insurmountable workshops, participated in various national and international symposiums and conferences and was invited by Dr Terry T. Gorski (Founder of the recovery program throughout the world) to attend the practicum regarding running a rehabilitation centre in Thailand. 

He has been interviewed by multiple media channels such as BBC, CNN, IBN and many more and has written three books in his regional language on addiction. His articles have been published in various newspapers and the famous documentary “Taala Te Kunjee” received a national film award from the President of India.

Dr JPS Bhatia’s love for his profession and his care for his patients made it possible for him to start the Hermitage Rehab in 2008 and has been continuing its smooth working ever since. His contributions to the field of mental health, addiction and psychiatry were acknowledged when known dignitaries such as Kiran Bedi, Bhagwant Mann, and D.K Jain (Chief Justice) came to visit The Hermitage Rehab.

His aim and purpose in life is to instigate hope in people that have lost their will to live and recover.
